hardwood

Whenever possible, I use wood cut off from other industrial uses to reduce waste. I embrace the character—knots, holes, marks—that may be deemed unfit for industrial use or furniture making.

driftwood

Driftwood is foraged in California and cleaned, dried, and sanded to remove sharpness. Otherwise, the natural qualities of the driftwood are preserved, including cracks, texture, and holes.
Pieces are finished with an all-natural oil and wax.

tampico

A medium-hardness fiber derived from agave. Its broom-like sweep is great for workbenches and countertops, or for light scrubbing. Its natural color is a pale yellow. Black tampico has been dyed.

horsehair

A soft fiber from the mane of a horse. Colors are rich and often include different shades in each bundle. Great for gentle sweeps like dusting. The hair can be combed and trimmed if desired.
Some light shedding may occur with either fiber.

care recommendations
〰

Spot clean with a gentle cloth and keep dry whenever possible. Submerging wood in water or subjecting it to extreme temperatures may cause cracking.

Shine can be restored with a light coat of neutral oil, applied gently with a cloth.

Experiencing light shedding with either fiber (especially with use) is perfectly normal. Gently tug strands that may be shedding to remove or trim with a scissor.

Please be aware: Pieces dyed with ink (including black tampico fiber) may transfer onto lighter surfaces. However, I haven’t found this to be the case unless the piece gets wet or is roughly handled.
